The Downtown Akron Partnership has selected Block by Block to take assume operations of its long tenured cleaning program, which had been known as Operations Neat Street. Under the new Block by Block program, the clean team will be expanded and a significant safety element will be added.

Under this new framework a total of nine employees will be on the streets making Downtown Akron a safer, cleaner and friendlier place to live, work or visit.

On Wednesday January 14th, the program was kicked off with a press event at the Akron Public Library in Downtown where Mayor Donald Plusquellic introduced the team to dignitaries, city officials, attendees and the media.

The expanded program is funded through a cooperative agreement between the Downtown Akron Partnership and METRO, Akron’s public transit system. METRO’s interest in bringing this program to live was strongly related to the new Transit Center located just outside of the district’s boundaries.

Block by Block is appreciative of the opportunity afforded to us by the Downtown Akron Partnership and look forward to accomplishing great things in Downtown!
